Geography and Climate
With an area of approximately 2,642 km², Navarino Island features a mountainous landscape, with peaks exceeding 1,200 meters in height, such as Mount Basso. Its coasts are filled with bays, fjords, and channels, making it an ideal place to explore nature. The climate on the island is temperate and humid, with frequent rains and strong winds, which helps maintain its lush vegetation.
Culture and Population
Navarino Island has a small population, mainly centered in the town of Puerto Williams, which is considered the southernmost settlement in the world. This small town has a rich history and a strong connection with the indigenous Yagán culture, which has inhabited the region for millennia. Despite its size, Puerto Williams has basic services, as well as some tourist facilities that attract visitors from all over the world.
